Making Most of Small Spaces
I watched an amazing show last night. I saw an ad for it in my Time Out New York, and decided to take a 30 minute study break to check out what the fuss is about. The show entitled "Small Space, Big Style" shows just what the name says - how real people like you and I, learn to live in a small space, make it functional and pretty. Always obsessed with how to make most of my space in an attractive way, this show held appeal.
What I didn't know that this was a premiere. I thought I was just catching onto something everyone's sort of known about. However, it's a brand new show, and I'm eager to spread the word.
The article in NYTimes reflects on an amazing functionality of a tiny apartment in Chelsea, New York City and that sacrifices need to be made. Your space should be multi-functional at all times. It's desk! No, it's a baby-changing table! One message was clear, in a small space, learn how to use light colors with occassional bright bursts. Dark, heavy furniture will make your space look heavy and cluttered.
Once done with studying, I'm going to embark on a project for my own little apartment, calling it "Operation Shoebox" - and post progress as it develops.
The show airs on Thursdays at 8:30PM EST on HGTV.
