what 29 looks like

almost 29

So I've entered the last year of my twenties. So far, I've loved every minute of it.

Wake up to a "Happy Birthday, baby." Glorious. Pour coffee. Walk the dog (albeit, not mine). Get dressed. Hope in a cab. Get to work to face the month-end madness. Get tons of emails and wishes from friends.

How lucky does a girl get, I ask? Seriously?

In light of the fact that we've been playing house at friends' place watching the doggy, I've cooked zilch. But yesterday, while KS and I were cleaning out our fridge, I paused to think about items that never seem to run out in my fridge. Staples. Things I'd feel "naked" without in the kitchen.

So here are a few for your reading pleasure and since it's my birthday, I won't feel guilty about not posting a recipe.

- lemons
- garlic
- ginger
- hot sauce
- eggs
- plain yogurt
- Parmesan cheese
- pine nuts
- almonds
- good, dark chocolate
- maple syrup
- lime pickle
- basmati/jasmine rice
- onions
- potatoes
- sardines

With the items above, I can often make a meal fit for a king, no matter the simplicity. And sometimes, the simplest is often the most satisfying.

What are some of your most indispensable kitchen food items?

UPDATE: They just got cupcakes for me at work from this place - and life is so so good right now, I am pinching myself.

I'm so glad I saw the pictures of your urban garden on your sight. The photos were so delicious I could almost taste your harvest.

Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing the progress in your garden
