Laura – before this year is over, I am going to include a recipe on how to make your own horse-radish at home. My grandfather used to do this and it was an intense endeavor!
Becky – Halloween? Seriously? Wow, that is quite early preparation!

I swear we’ve been jipped (sp? I just realized that word might be offensive… gypies… no idea) this summer. All this rain? It’s ridiculous. I’ve only gotten swimming in the river twice this year, and that’s not nearly enough.
But I’m up for filling the next few weeks with sun, cook-outs, and lemony potato salad!

Oh, I know!! It’s been a late season here, because of oddly cool weather, and so I feel like we’ve just really gotten to sink our teeth into summer produce. I harvested the biggest tomato I think I’ve ever seen from my garden last night, and I’m not ready to give it up. But no worries — the retail season is always three months ahead of the real world. I do believe i saw the first Halloween things at my Target — no joke. This potato salad is gorgeous, and a perfect celebration of what’s ripe right now. Picnic on!
