Ingredients

  • 8 white onions, large
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt and freshly ground pepper , to taste

Instructions

  1. To peel the onions, drop them in boiling water for 1 minute.
  2. Drain and rinse with water. Trim off the root end and the skin should slip off.
  3. Sauté the onion in the butter until lightly browned.
  4. Add enough chicken stock to come halfway up the onions.
  5. Add the sugar, salt, and pepper and simmer covered for about 20 minutes until the onions are cooked through. Drain before serving!
